the lost soldier

iam still in janesville wisconsin at the hampton inn on 14 west and i think 26 north its a chilly 14 degree morning and the roads are nasty for a bicycle ride janesville hasnt been real friendly from here it looks like i will take 14 west and head towards the mississippi river i need to get matts picture in the newspaper last night i was in this wanna be biker bar a bunch of union workers bragging about how much money they made and smoking pot out front while i was talking with them about my journeys they didnt believe a word i said they thought i was lieing about my journeys the people in this area havent been very friendly but somehow i will get matts picture run in a newspaper in wisconsin somehow in janesville lastnight the catholic church downtown ran a shelter when i went there to talk to some of the christian people running the place to try and come up with some warm boots and a tent i got really lucky one of the men was an army sargent who had remembered the newspaper interview i had done over 2 years ago he brought me a brand new pair of army winter survival boots and a really neat survival tent that can also be worn as a poncho the problen is it is a small tent that needsa to be staked to pitch but he respected my journeys its kind of wierd how the shelters in this town work they kick the people out around 8 in the morning and they cant come back until around the same time that evening but i guess they can continue to stay indefiently the churchs swap up every 2 weeks its kind of crazy how its ran they wont give them a dime to eat on and before you can stay they night they call the police and run a background check iam only going to spend a short time in iowa 14 will take me into iowa at the mississippi river i will cross into iowa try and get a newspaper interview ran then come back follow the wisconsin side of the mississippi into prairie dee chen then cross over into minnesota and continue up that side
