the lost soldier
its been a pain in the neck trying to figure out this new web-site hopefully this isnt a duplicate post the date today is july 14th 2007 and iam in a town called carthedge missouri i arrived here yesterday adternoon upon arriveing i went to the nazarene church to talk to a pastor about pitching a tent for the night on church property the pastor was somehow hooked up with an agency called the carthedge crisis center he called the man who ran the place and this is what he said and it was kind of sad for a christian run agency before one could stay there they had to first go to the police station for a background check after going to the police station i went back was sitting out front talking with some people and a man who had been staying there came up and the manager stated you have been drinking i can smell it on you if you dont leave i will ccall the police this morning after getting up not only did they kick him out for the night they ikicked him out for good not a very christian thing to do when they are supose to believe in what would jesus do this morning while sitting outside talking to some people the manager approached me and said if you are here past 8 a.m. you will have to do some work she used the word chores and also replied you should get a job i felt like saying what kind of job is one that one does that makes them feel like such a control freak that they wont even feed a man that has been drinking and not only that throws a man out in the cold who isnt even intoxicated she needs a real job its a beautiful morning iam sure if i will go to saint louis now or not its a ways out of my way the states of kentucky and tennessee are next at this point iam about 40 miles fromfrom springfield missouri the kairos prison ministry people are there and that is where i will try and get this bicycle readjusted its a hot humid day today in the state of missouri the state of illinois is next iam not sure how fariam but i found out the prison in springfield is where john goddi died i made the ride into a little town called mount vernon missouri its starting to get hot and humid but its a beautiful day in the good ole united states of america last night i went and talked to a couple churchs about pitching a tent on church property insurance was the reason i wasnt allowed to pitch a tent on gods propert y iam about 45 miles from springfield missouri and out of springfield i think its highway 60 i will take neither the first baptist or catholic churchs would let me pitch a tent on church property insurance was there excusesso a man working outside the church a vietnam vet put me in a motel for the night and bought me dinner at a truckstop of america and gave me 20 mdollars for the road this morning i got up and went to the catholic church and talked to a priest he wasnt much interested in my journeys but he did get ahold of an episcopalian priest and he will meet me later its kind of crazy but the episcopalian and methodist people have been by far the most compassionate of all of the christian organizations to me the state of kentucky is next what the hillbillies be like iam still in mount vernon missouri and bronson missouri is next it seems highway 60 out of springfield will be a dangerous ride and i would like to check out bronson and highway 60 has no shoulders my time in this town was short but alright this am i got up and talked to a catholic priest he sent a man to me who was an episcopalian priest we didnt discuss that but the man took me to lunch we talked a bit about my journeys after lunch he took me back to the church and pointed me to a church called kingsway christian church he gave me 25 dollars for a campground which is right down the road by bronson missouri its a hot muggy day today as i start to get back into the humidity of the southern united states i made the ride into bronson missouri and went to an army recruiter today to find out the status of 3 american soldiers of whom they had only found dog tags of and he had no idea the status of how they were listed bronson missouri is a very beautiful area but it is definetly a tourist trap i guess iam about 30 miles from the arkansas state line that is my next stop but bronson missouri as beautiful as it is really is nothing but a tourist trap iam about 30 miles from the arkansas state line they really are trying to distroy the beauty of the ozark mountains well its time to get out of bronson it really is nothing but a tourist trap i talked to both a female episcopalian priest and a methodist minister and also a baptist pastor and none would help me get the bicycle tuned up as beautiful as this area is it wont take long for society to tear it up its a beautiful area the state of arkansas is next maybe i will party with some hillbillies the date today is now july 19th 2007 and iam still in the state of missouriin a town named hollisterthese people i met in a bar let me spend the night iam fixin to get back on the road last night i was in a bar called audis located in hollister missouri i met a man and his wife they took me to thier trailor burnt a couple and let me sleep on the couch this morning i got up and they cooked me breakfast heres something pretty cool these people that took me home for the night gave me an 18 speed raleigh mountain bike you can take it over your head with 3 fingers but heres something pretty dam dumb today i met some people and went partying and during the process of drinking some beer and doing some bowls i lost my license again after checking out the map saint louis missouri is next its crazy how people can party with people who seem alright and things can just dissappear and my dam license was in itside i got dinner out of the deal but there was nothing in the wallet but my license stealing the wallet and playing stupid after it happened really pissed me off iam now in a town caalled lebbanon missouri last night as i was rideing down interstate 44 it was difficult to find a place to pitch my tent aso i just walked down a slight bank and pitched it beside the interstate i knew if i could make it to dark i would not be seen and the police would not hassle me kind of like out of sight out of mind and i was right iam at a holiday inn in this town useing their service centerand drinking their coffee as if i was staying here the bike given to me is a good bike he changed the gearing system so it does climb good its a beautiful morning and st. louis missouri is next the date today is now july 22nd 2007 and iam at the super 8 motel in lebannon missouri the manager let me use the compute pretty cool of him its a beautiful morning this morning in the state of missouri sunny no humidity its a beautiful day to be free in america from here its on to st.louis as i travel thru this country i relize alot of american people take freedom for granted the date is now july 23rd 2007 and iam not far from fort lenardwood in a town named waynesville missouriat the public library last night checkout what happened i was sitting in a bar just talking to some people about my journeys and a man who was very anti military came up to me and asked if i had a pump because i had a flat tire on my pullie-cart i took the tire off checked it for leaks no hole to be found i put the tire back on went into the bar and continued to drink budweiser after drinking about 4 pitchers of beer i left the bar and found a place to pitch my tent only a few hundred yards from the bar and woke up again this morning flat tire when i looked in my pullie cart for my pump it was gone i rode the bike to the gas station filled the tire up and low and behold it held air i had to go to wal-mart and get another pump an an extra tube but its cowardly stuff like that that at times amazes me people are so offended by my freedoms it really is a beautiful day in the state of missouri iam still in the ozark mountains iam now at saint roberts catholic church in saint roberts missouri the priest reordered my licence
